ChatAssist AI: Documentation for a New SaaS Onboarding Flow
Simulated project — AI chatbot SaaS platform
A full documentation suite for a fictional AI chatbot platform, built to test how far a single writer can take a product from zero to fully documented: account setup, product usage, API reference, troubleshooting, and release communication, written as one connected system rather than five disconnected documents.

The problem
A new SaaS user has three questions in the first ten minutes: how do I get set up, how do I do the one thing I came here to do, and what happens when something breaks. Most documentation answers the first two well and treats the third as an afterthought. I built this suite around the assumption that troubleshooting content is onboarding content, since a user who hits an error in minute eleven with no clear next step is a user who churns.
Approach
Getting started guide: sequenced around the first chatbot a user builds, not a feature-by-feature tour. Account creation, first bot, first look at analytics, in that order, because that's the order a new user actually needs them.
API reference: structured around the developer's task (create a chatbot, train it, check its status) rather than an alphabetical endpoint list, with full request and response examples for every call so a developer can copy, adjust, and go.
Troubleshooting table: built from the errors a user would actually hit (bot not responding, login failure, analytics lag) mapped directly to the HTTP status codes and root causes behind them, so support tickets can be resolved by reading the docs instead of escalating.
Release notes: written to separate what changed for the end user (new features, UI improvements) from what changed for the developer (API response time, bug fixes), since those two audiences read release notes for different reasons.
What I'd validate
Time-to-first-successful-bot for a new user, from signup to their first activated chatbot
Support ticket volume for the errors covered in the troubleshooting table, before and after publishing
Developer time-to-first-API-call using the reference docs alone, no support contact
